How to Make a Crypto Donation to Ukraine Directly or Through Uniswap

0 2

In this post, we tell you how to make a crypto donation to Ukraine directly or through Uniswap. The decentralized exchange Uniswap has created an interface that allows you to easily donate any token to the Ukrainian government. Uniswap allows you to exchange any ERC-20 token (DAI, USDC, ENS…) for Ethereum and donate it to the Government automatically in a single transaction.

The Ukrainian government has thanked Uniswap for this initiative in a tweet. However, to donate directly in BTC, ETH or DOT, it must be done through the addresses provided by the Ukrainian government. As of press time, more than $37.9 million in crypto has already been donated, according to Elliptic.

How to make a crypto donation to Ukraine

To make a donation to Ukraine in Bitcoin, Ethereum or Polkadot the process is very simple. You just need to copy the crypto wallet addresses provided by the official Twitter of the Ukrainian Government, paste them into the delivery address of the wallet you normally use, and confirm the transaction. Like any other crypto transaction. The addresses are as follows:

  • Bitcoin: 357a3So9CbsNfBBgFYACGvxxS6tMaDoa1P
  • Ehereum: 0x165CD37b4C644C2921454429E7F9358d18A45e14
  • Polkadot (DOT): 1x8aa2N2Ar9SQweJv9vsuZn3WYDHu7gMQu1RePjZuBe33Hv.

Send any Token

To make a donation through any token to Ukraine you must go to the following link: https://donate.uniswap.org/#/swap  and it will directly take you to an interface in which the process is fully automated. The first thing to do, as in all dApps, is to connect your crypto wallet to the button that appears at the top right. We select this button and a list of crypto wallets to connect will appear. In this step we recommend MetaMask as it is the easiest to use, but any of the other wallets is totally fine.

When connecting, for example, our MetaMask wallet, we will get a notification from the wallet asking for permission to connect to Uniswap, we click connect and it will automatically connect us to our account. Once we have entered our account, we can select any ERC-20 token that we have. That is, any token that is on the Ethereum network. The interface allows to automatically exchange the change of this token to ETH and the shipment to Ukraine in a single transaction.

Carry out the transaction

In my case, for example, I want to donate DAI, a dollar-pegged stablecoin. For this, I select the DAI token in the list of tokens in the window, and the amount of DAI in ETH automatically appears in the tab of the Ukrainian government and the gas of the transaction. As can be seen in the image, the gas for this exchange transaction would be $9.31.

To send this token to Ukraine, we need to select the button that says “Allow Uniswap protocol to use your DAI” and sign the transaction that appears in the Metamask popup. This transaction is just to confirm that the interface can send your tokens, but nothing has been sent yet.

To finish the process, a green tick should appear above the button that says send. Once this confirmation appears, we can click on send and a pop-up window will appear to confirm the transaction within Uniswap. Lastly, we need to confirm the transaction and then sign the Metamask transaction confirming the shipment to the Ukrainian government address. Here, a new amount of gas will appear, which is the cost corresponding to sending ETH to Ukraine, in my case it is $20.

Acknowledgment from the Ukrainian Government

The Ukrainian Vice President himself, Mykhailo Fedorov, wanted to thank Uniswap’s initiative through his official Twitter. “The people of Ukraine are grateful to Uniswap for their new “donate to Ukraine” feature that automatically exchanges any of their tokens to ETH so they can be sent to Ukraine. Could Uniswap put it on their homepage to help more members of the crypto community help? says the vice president.
